Keith Lee, the renowned MMA fighter turned TikTok food critic, made headlines again, this time for a delightful return visit to a barbecue spot he previously enjoyed. On Wednesday evening, Lee, along with his family, visited The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ in Trophy Club, Texas—a charming spot located about 25 miles northeast of Fort Worth.
The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ took to Instagram to express their gratitude, saying, “It was a pleasure to serve the Lee family during their visit last night! From our family to yours, we are truly grateful for the Lee family, for everything they have done for us and the DFW area.”
Lee’s first encounter with The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ was back in July during a food tour of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Lee had been touring barbecue joints and mistakenly thought he was visiting Hutchins Barbecue, a different establishment with similar roots. The confusion stemmed from a family split within the Hutchins clan.

The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ was established in 2023 by father Roy Hutchins and his son Wes Hutchins. This new venture arose from a disagreement within the Hutchins family over the direction and expansion of their barbecue brand. The other Hutchins siblings, Tim and Tracy “Trey” Hutchins, manage Hutchins Barbecue, with locations in Frisco and McKinney.
Despite the mix-up, Lee’s return visit indicates he’s now clear on which barbecue spot he’s enjoying. The Wednesday outing was a special occasion, as it coincided with the birthday celebration of Lee’s brother, Kevin Lee, who turned 32. Kevin, also an MMA fighter, retired from the sport last year.
As for Keith Lee, he’s looking forward to his own birthday on October 4. He shared with his fans on Instagram that his wife is whisking him away to Tokyo for the celebration. One can only wonder how Tokyo’s barbecue compares to the Texas flavors he’s been savoring.
