Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Expands With 21 New Locations Across The U.S.

You’re in luck if you’re a fan of the popular thin, crispy smashed burgers. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a fast-growing, fast-casual burger chain, is expanding its reach across the United States.

The Wichita, Kansas-based company has announced plans to open 21 new locations, continuing its rapid growth. These new restaurants will be located in Washington, Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, and Texas, allowing even more customers to enjoy Freddy’s signature smash burgers and frozen custard.

Expansion Plans Across the U.S.

Freddy’s recently signed four separate agreements that will add these 21 new restaurants to its franchise system. Both new and existing franchisees are leading the expansion, which demonstrates the increasing interest in Freddy’s franchise opportunities.

One of the most significant developments is Freddy’s entrance into Washington State. New franchisees Imrit Chattrath and Jasdeep Singh of Puget Sound Bites, Inc. signed a 10-unit deal to bring the brand to the Seattle market. This marks the first time Freddy’s will operate in Washington, further expanding its geographic footprint.

Meanwhile, Freddy’s will also continue its growth in the Midwest. Franchisees Mike and Steven Young of MLY Investments, a father-and-son duo, are adding new restaurants in Rock Island Knox County, Illinois, and Des Moines, Iowa. The Youngs are no strangers to Freddy’s—they already operate 10 locations across Iowa and Illinois and are in the process of developing an additional 15 restaurants in the Midwest.

In New Jersey, franchisee Peter Labib has signed on to open four new locations in Monmouth County, bringing Freddy’s famous burgers and frozen custard to the East Coast. Additionally, in Texas, new franchisee Frank Fayyaz of ARF Restaurants, LLC, is planning to open four new restaurants in the Austin area. Texas has already proven to be a successful market for Freddy’s, with more growth planned for the region.

Freddy’s Momentum and Growth Strategy

Freddy’s rapid expansion is not new. The company has been signing multi-unit franchise agreements throughout 2024. Last month, Freddy’s announced plans to open ten new restaurants across Greenville and Spartanburg Counties in South Carolina by 2031.

Before that, the company shared details of a deal that will bring 20 new locations to Houston, Texas, further strengthening its presence in the Lone Star State.

This latest expansion builds on the momentum Freddy’s has been generating in recent years. The chain currently operates more than 530 locations in 36 states and has an additional 130 locations in development for 2024 and 2025.

Earlier this year, the company set ambitious goals, including plans to open 65 new restaurants in 2024 after opening a record 62 locations in 2023.

Freddy’s long-term goal is to operate 800 locations by 2026. The brand has also expressed confidence that it could eventually expand to over 3,000 locations across North America. This ambitious target underscores the company’s belief in the growing demand for its smash burgers and frozen custard.

Franchisee Support and Confidence in Freddy’s Brand

Freddy’s success and expansion are driven by the new and existing franchisees’ confidence in the brand. According to Andrew Thengvall, Freddy’s chief development officer, franchisees’ continued investment is a testament to the value of Freddy’s franchise opportunity and the unique dining experience the brand offers.

“We are enthusiastic about our future expansion and the chance to introduce Freddy’s to more communities with the help of both new and seasoned franchisees,” said Thengvall in a press release.

With its steady growth, proven business model, and strong franchisee network, Freddy’s is poised to continue its expansion across the country, bringing its beloved smashed burgers and frozen custard to even more customers nationwide.
