The Minds Behind Fords Gin’s Success

The success of Fords Gin can be traced back to its founder, Simon Ford, who launched the brand in 2013 as an ode to bartenders. With a deep understanding of gin’s role in iconic cocktails, Ford collaborated with bartenders during the development of Fords Gin, creating a unique blend of nine botanicals.

The inclusion of Jasmine flower and grapefruit adds a bright balance, standing out from the sharper London Dry gins that dominated the market at the time.

A Bar Designed By Experts

For the design of the bar and tasting room, Ford enlisted the help of Leo Robitschek, an award-winning mixologist known for his work at Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad Hotel.

The bar’s marble-slab design features two cocktail stations centered around a well-equipped experimental kitchen, complete with Japanese ice machines and tools for making bitters and syrups. The space is thoughtfully designed to cater to bartenders, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Signature Cocktails and Unique Elements

Fords Gin’s new bar boasts a soft green color palette, custom-designed brass handles, and umbrella-shaped taps serving pre-batched cocktails. The bar’s signature drinks will include favorites like the Negroni, Bee’s Knees, and London Calling. The cocktail menus will be tailored to the specific needs of groups and occasions, showcasing the versatility of Fords Gin.

A Nod To History

While the bar exudes modern elegance, it is deeply rooted in history. The facility is also the home of Thames Distillers, where Charles Maxwell, a 10th-generation master distiller, oversees the gin-making process. Maxwell, often hailed as the godfather of the modern craft gin movement, continues the family tradition with the help of his son, George, and Ockju Lee.
